Rabid's Fearless Predictions
Apr. 17th, 2004 09:00 pmIf you have read the Angel spoiler for the finale and are scratching your head...let me talk you through it by offering this
Okay...so what happens in the spoiler...happens...and then, when all appears lost...Angel has Illyria use her time traveling mojo to send him back to just BEFORE the moment of choice last season...there is Lilah with the Spike toasting Amulet...there is Connor suffering...but now Angel knows you can't make a deal with the devil and win. Cut to...Angel coming down to the group as he did the first time but this time saying, "We're NOT taking the deal...I turned it down!" People start to voice protests...Enter Spike all in a flurry from stage right, "Slayer needs your help!" everyone exchanges more glances and then they mount up to go deal with the First. The movies could go anywhere from there...Buffy is redeemed...Spike is saved...the First doesn't have to be as lame and pointless...Anya doesn't have to die...Sunnydale could still exist...maybe there are loads of Slayers...maybe not...and the A/B/S question is saved for yet another day. And the beauty of it is...the spoiler stands...and so does the Season of Hell. Angel learns a valuable lesson and the Buffyverse can go in almost any direction...JW could even say he planned it that way all along. As for the unanswered questions: I think JW will leave us with everyone doing the power walk (like in the credits with the weapons on the shoulders and the steely-eyed looks)but if I was writing it I would have a brief S/A exchange with Spike saying "We're together, Buffy and I!" and Angel, grabbing up a weapon, just shrugs it off with, "Yeah, I know. She could do worse!" because NOW Angel knows Spike better and maybe trusts him a bit more and he's seen the alternative and it wasn't pretty.
Also, offering this spin on Days of Our Lives... It IS not possession...it is a CURSE. It is the one cast by Larry Welch on Hope as he dies...Hope clued me in when she asked, "Why were we spared?" and then Julie, who is now acting as wacky as Marlena, clued me in the rest of the way...the Curse targeted Marlena in the form of a Tiger, when her clothes were torn, and Julie in the form of BATS...and it probably will turn out that some of the killings were done by someone OTHER than Marlena. This is why she kept confessing and yet didn't want to confess...she was fighting off the curse at times and being overcome by it at others.
