I am surprised that the penultimate episode didn't talk more people into watching this episode, even with hot weather. And wasn't the football on right after Doctor Who this time...on the same channel? Of course, maybe football watchers are not Doctor Who fans. No wait they must be if they are changing the ratings. Maybe those fans are having a footie party with their friends and can't be bothered following complex plots from Moff until they have a quiet, non-hot house again.

The ratings were down...5.1 million, which makes me think that the Pandorica Opens did not get time shifted very much during the week. I think if they had seen it they would come. People are probably waiting to watch both together, as I almost did. And as we saw happen to Silence in the Library. But Moff is a little bit disingenuous in his interview with his son when he says that people are choosing ipod and recording technology now. I mean, were there no recording devices in England before this season? No, it is the choice to put plot above character that is at fault here. People don't care as much as they used to care, Moff.

Sorry, but this sort of putting off of a show decision is a bad sign. It means that the show is no longer must see TV. All this said despite my positive love of the finale, which definitely elevated my opinion of Moff and all his characters. The good news is that people watching it between now and Christmas will be put in a good mood for the holiday viewing.

See my review of the finale here...

looking for the final figures to go up at least a million but that would only take us to 6.5 or so...a real slip for a Doctor Who finale.
