rabid1stI am not President Obama's biggest fan. I think he has failed to lead, failed to take advantage of the one strength he had going into the fight--his public charisma. I believe that is because HE thought his strength was in negotiations. And maybe it even is...but he's dealing with a particular form of insanity that has struck all of our lawmakers. And a good portion of our citizens. And I'm including the Democratic politicians and policy makers in this too.
It basically is an insanity that claims 1) we would like government to fix everything but 2) we don't want government to have any power or money to fix anything and 3) the more money corporations make the better off we all are.
Take this gem of a news article from the AP press, mind you...the AP is very conservative.
WASHINGTON – Republicans in the Senate appear likely to kill legislation to provide continued unemployment checks to millions of people and provide states with billions of dollars to avert layoffs.
It would be a bitter defeat for President Barack Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats, who have been trying to advance the measure for months as an insurance policy against a double-dip recession.
Despite another round of cuts to the measure aimed at pacifying GOP deficit concerns, the measure seems doomed to die by a filibuster in a vote expected as early as Thursday.
So, if you are hopeless and jobless just know that you are also not a priority. And btw, American business want you to know that they are only considering EMPLOYED people for job openings because unemployed people are obviously not worth as much, since they were let go...in a harsh economy. I kid you not...that was a recent financial headline. When, oh, when, oh, Lord are we going to stand up to the Corporate Feudalism in this country? I'm sort of glad that guy with no money and no experience got so many votes. I say we grab a few more people off the streets and put them in, but let's not put in some idiot that is going to give the rich more money AND an apology for our wanting to work.
