PONY DAY -- Press Viewing Reaction...or lack thereof...

Today's Doctor Who pony icon countdown is brought to you by the Press Day Viewing. It happened yesterday. But oddly enough, there aren't too many spoilers in Google News links today. Now, I'm not searching...and I don't want to know...and I heartily recommend that you all stop looking and reading right now. But...I'm pleased at the restraint from the normally blabbermouth press sources. I wonder if RTD simply gave them a snippet or two to view and then granted interviews with people. I'm also assuming David didn't go...because I think he's still filming Rex in LA. On the other hand...he's been on every show imaginable...so maybe he flies home on the weekends.

REMEMBER...THIS IS A NO SPOILER ZONE FROM NOW ON...

I think the Beeb has fully exploited the fact that it's a two-parter. The Press will swarm all over P1, and there's not all that much left to reveal. By the time P2 transmits everyone will be sprawled on the couch at home with their two-week TV guides and no journalist will have the inclination to seek a scoop.

With the possible exception of an 80 year old companion, there's really little that's new about P1.

And this could be the genius of RTD and his obsessive need to avoid spoilers. Yes, another thing he and I have in common. I would hate people ruining my story by telling everyone how it ends.

So, I hope that he has succeeded at last in throwing everyone off the scent. And yes, it does appear that the Christmas Day scoops are all scooped out...80 year old companion and other old folks, the Master...the regeneration looms...Timothy Dalton...and few people are even asking about Billie or John Barrowman...because they are certain that they know what we are getting there...which is the usaul goodbye scenes of assorted companions going about their lives. <<---something I very much hope we are NOT getting.

So, would it be counted as a spoiler to say David gave a very cagey answer to Graham Norton's question regarding whether or not he has filmed with Matt Smith?

I am not sure if it is a spoiler. I did find his answer cagey and possibly revealing...because he wouldn't actually have to be on set the same time as Matt Smith for a regeneration sequence. Though, I suppose it would make blocking easier. However, if there are two Doctors...and one of them regenerates into Matt Smith...then David WOULD have to be on set with Matt.

Still, I would say that answer of David's could go either way. And is more likely to just be about ordinary regeneration than anything else. What I wonder is why bother denying he was on set with Matt...everyone knows that Matt is taking over from him...and everyone is expecting the regeneration. It isn't going to spoil the surprise one bit to admit to filming a regeneration scene.
