Well...I might as well just answer this question for all of you who are wondering.

Yes, I read The Daily Mail.

This means, yes, I have indeed seen today's spoilers.

If you do not know what those spoilers are...don't ask me, just go Google Doctor Who and the Daily Mail. Or you can read on and find out.

Most importantly, do not spoil me further.

Again, I must remind everyone that I don't go looking on forums for spoiler information. I think it ruins the whole experience of watching the show.

If you know more than The Daily Mail has to tell us...I can't hear you. Nah-Nah-Nah-Nah-Nah!

But for my reaction to things new and interesting in the papers...

...we find that there are pictures of things I personally enjoy very much...like David Tennant laughing with a close personal friend of his. I have a new background pic on my computer of them giggling.

I always enjoy watching David light up around this person. The tilt of his head, the warm glow in his eyes...that smile. Oh, and then there are the bits I've been expecting for so long. People I need to say "I told you so" to...please, line up on the right. Pony pals...to the left for your HIGH FIVEing!

What? What's with the wibbling and the pouty lower lip? Look at me.

I know, I know...it doesn't look like a pony from here. The box is far too small. It looks like stinky old socks. Indeed, it appears to be smaller, yet, perhaps it is the coal lump of heartbreak. But, here's the thing...the filming is at the Powell Estates. This means it is a flashback or...it is the Doctor skulking in the shadows like Captain Jack used to do...desperate to have one last glimpse of his beloved. Is it one glimpse of her before he dies? I ask myself. Now, that's not what I call a happy for her lifetime end. No, it is not. That is the heartbreak of Doomsday to the Nth Power of Journey's End.

But what makes ME happy is the confirmation that HE needs to see Rose. Unlike anyone else he might visit...Sarah Jane, Donna, Jack...Rose won't be living her "better life." Rose, at the Powell Estates, will be longing for someone to take her away from her unbearable life. That someone, that wonderful man who is coming for her, is her Doctor. How can the he NOT want to save her all over again? How can he resist the urge to go to her, hold her?

Now, maybe what RTD is going for is heartwrenching acknowledgement of JE being the best thing that ever happened to Rose...maybe he's going to metaphorically let the Doctor see that he's done good by saving Rose from her bland life of inadequate clothing in the winter and a future as Mrs. Mickey Smith. Since Rose is wearing a ring on her finger...maybe we are doing a version of "It's a Wonderful Life" after all. And how weird would that be for me, since I've been saying the Doctor has needed that for some time now.

Maybe here we see Rose and Jackie and Mickey as they would be if the Doctor had never come around to help them out. But isn't that just Turn Left in a new wrapper. Is it Boxing Day? Are we getting regifted with socks and coal? I think not. I think that seeing Rose again is a sign that THAT is what the Doctor really wants. He still wants Rose. And Rose still wants him. So...RTD can still fix this with a little help from Ten 2. We can still get our happy Doctor Switch.

I'm just saying...

And what is it I'm saying...say it with me...

PONY! PONY! PONY!

Amen!

I want to believe in your pony, I really, really do. Unfortunately, I just can't. I never got my Cabbage Patch Kid for Xmas, I got the cheap, generic rip-off that some old lady made in her living room and that's what this feels like to me; some cheap, generic rip-off.

*sadly not being optimistic*

...it does appear to be a cheap, generic Cabbage Head Doll, from this angle. Or a lump of coal. Or socks.

But I still say there is no way that RTD is going to show us his entire plot on the streets of London Town...so there is more to this than meets the all seeing eye of The Daily Mail photographers.

Agreed, but...

I'm too invested in this damn storyline, too connected to the whole Rose Tyler and the Doctor love story. Dude, I spend a large chunk of my days either reading or writing fanfiction about them. But that's what I do, I immerse myself utterly and completely in whatever it is I'm watching or reading (it takes me, literally, a month or more after I finish reading one book to pick up another; I become that involved with the characters that I just can't read anything else). And because of that I know that, no matter what happens, the simple fact that Ten is leaving us, is going to have me in hysterics when I watch the finale. It's going to be so bad for me that I refuse to watch the last two episodes with my family (normally it's me, Jeff, and the four kids, sometimes with a few of our friends). I'll watch them alone, later, after everyone's in bed. I don't even want to think about how much worse it's going to be for me if there isn't a toy doll with the name Xavier Roberts stamped on its arse under the tree.

So I think, for my own sanity (*snickers* yeah, like someone this obsessed with a television show could be sane), I'm going to count on socks and coal for Xmas. That way maybe the disappointment won't be quite as bad.

Pony pal checking it. I trust in your enthusiasm for our pony so I'll trust in our pony. Those pictures were seriously adorable and I all I could focus on was, "Brown suit!!!" I don't really care beyond that at the moment. I'll care once I'm actually watching it. Until then I'm reserving judgment and trusting RTD wants to fix JE.

I can only focus on finding the giggly picture. URL, plz?

I kind of hope that it is a "It's a Wonderful Life" moment for the Doctor. He focuses far too much on the bad and forgets the good. I'd really like to see what Rose's life would have been like if she hadn't met the Doctor - not nearly so interesting, I imagine!

I suspect we no can has pony, but I'm sort of resigned to that fact. Hey, if I have no expectations, anything that comes our way will be a positive, yes?

I think it's SO romantic that he wants to see her one last time before regenerating.

I got socks for Easter *pout* I'm holding out for my Christmas pony.
It's mad, but I really like what she's wearing, too. Cos, I think it's a clue! (I'm still working out what it's a clue about)

I love you; you always know what to say about things that look utterly disastrous for the pony campaign to make us (me!) feel so much better.

Thank you so much. :)

When I saw that picture I realised what had happened to my show and how much I wanted the old one back. It's just gorgeous.

I could live with him losing Rose as long as something about the way it happens restores his hope, his optimism and his belief in love. As long as he stops thinking he has to be alone and cursed. As long as he goes out knowing the good that he brings into people's lives and into his own.

I do love the way that bringing them together at the very end seems to reinforce all that. If he has to let her go, so be it, so long as he can do it hopefully.

Anyway, I don't think we've seen the last of these two. Julie G is about to move to LA and RTD's been spotted in the queue for a US visa. DT says he's been offered something SF related and very secret, and meanwhile he's doing stuff for Masterpiece Theatre. Call me an optimist, but a couple of years ago who'd have predicted that Star Trek TOS could reboot so successfully?

Well...see...I think we have...

...a HUGE movie set up in a switch of Doctors. Because if it happens at the very end...as it might well do...then...we will not get to see what happens next.

And let's face it, RTD wanted to do Rose Tyler, Earth Defender a very long time ago. He could do the show he wanted to do if the Doctors switch bodies. Also, he could do that show if Ten doesn't regenerate but is instead saved at the last second...and then we see Eleven and the remodified TARDIS pop back in at the very end of the show.

And yes, like Billie's stall on Secret Diary...getting it lined up exactly right for the timing...David's Masterpiece theater gig reeks of David doing something else.

I would not really be satisfied with the "He comes to know he's done good by people" scenario. Because I believe he's still screwed up...so what does THAT matter. But it does sort of work against the people who love Ten 2 because they believe Ten doesn't love Rose. Also...I noticed there might be Ood in this last shoot. And that really links us to Bad as a Wolf Rose who can do anything...and also the end of the Doctor's song again. It seems to me that having the Doctor deal with this huge regret of losing Rose at the end of his run...doesn't really heal the wound so much as pick at the scab.

I suppose if Rose was talking about wanting children or a safe and happy home. But it would be the first time we ever heard her say such a thing...so I would still find it out of character. I liked her wearing her Bad Wolf scarf. And the hat to cover the wig was genius. And she won't need a hat if we see her in Pete's World because so much time has passed there that her hair could grow out.

Mama wants a pony, damn it! I don't know if it will be a true pony. Maybe it will just be a rocking horse. Or a frakkin' My Little Pony. But the fact that they're acknowledging that their story didn't end with JE gives me hope. I'm going to try not to hope TOO much less it be old socks in a My Little Pony wrapper. But I am holding on to the slimmest of slivers thanks to your pony rallies. If a filly can win the Preakness for the first time since '24, RTD can bloody well get it right, too.

Sigh...

I dunno guys....I don't think it is a TL repackaged, since the ring is on her right hand. But those pics..wow. Um. I really have no idea. Besides, we know he is going to regen, so how does it work with him switching with Ten2, who can't regen? Yark.

I will say I'm just jazzed to see BrownTen with Rose Tyler again. Those days made me so happy.

They need to switch BODIES...

...not places. Ten 2 is Eleven but he's stuck in a human body living the life TEN wants to live. So, they just need to switch bodies and both of them will be where they should be...it can happen at the next regeneration...cause it's a Time Lord thing.

And yes, seeing Brown Ten with Rose is very nice.

They looked so happy and close in that picture that it took me a moment to realize that it wasn't Rose and Ten but Billie and David. I want them back together, the right way, so very badly. This gives me a glimmer of hope, but like [livejournal.com profile] wickedgillie said above, I'm still a little afraid that there'll be socks in the My Little Pony box. I would have even been perfectly happy with a completely off screen pony.

Oh well, if it gets messed up too badly I can always continue to blithely replace cannon with fannon.

Exactly...RTD can get this right. It helped me so much to know that he knew he had gotten it wrong. And so...now...we must see if he can get it right. It's so very easy to put them together...there are so many ways it can happen. I think if RTD doesn't give us a complete wrap it is because he's really missed the point of the series. Which would be sort of odd...since he's always seemed to understand the point of the series. I mean, HE remembers the Doctor from childhood as this person who can do anything...and yet...he would have us believe that even the Doctor is destined to be unhappy in life. Sadness that!

Having her there...at the last moments...is just so very wrong if all we get to have is Ten moping about her. I just can't see RTD addressing this...getting Billie to come back even...while in the middle of filming her other show...only to say exactly what he said before...it's better for the Doctor to be alone. Just let him enjoy his alone time, then...that seems simple enough to convey.
