...at the earliest...I feel it is completely unfair for there to be open spoilers on the news sites this early in the game.

SIGH!

Once again I was spoiled...though I know that with RTD we really won't know the good stuff until the show airs...which is as it should be, of course. Still...these casting spoilers and hints are creating a sharp whining plea of noise at the back of my throat. I simply cannot NOT theorize. You all know how I am.

SPOILER UNDER THIS CUT...BEWARE...

So, Den of Geek is reporting that John Simm has been spotted on set. Also, the name Naismith is being bandied about. Anyone with an eye for word origins knows that Naismith literally means NOT SMITH...which means...NOT the Doctor we all know and love. It would be a lovely surname for Ten 2 to take.

It would also be a sporty name for the Master to assume.

Especially since the Naismith family motto is: Not by science but by war.

Fitting that...for either man.

I am understandably delighted that the spoilers are so in harmony with my own way of thinking. Humperdinck. Humperdinck. Humperdinck. I say! However, it is also maddening, as I am acutely aware that I have shoveled a lot of manure in the past and I have never, ever found a pony.

So, this humming in my very bones...is very premature glee. But...if wishes become ponies...I will definitely give all of you poor beggars a ride.

Between talk of Donna and John Simm (*would* he be reborn as the same body? Let's hope since John Simm is teh pretteh!) I think RTD will be gathering up a lot of dropped balls for his final juggling act. I hope he finally addresses the guilt over Gallifrey and his loneliness/need for Rose as well. Because damnit, I like ponies. I can has?

If a Metacrisis does what I theorize it does...

...then yes, the Master.3 is the same as Ten.2...so in the same form...or almost. Lucy is his Donna, if you will. She shot him down and his metacrisis began...only being all prepared...his regenerative energy was funneled through his ring.

After he's bar-b-qued...Lucy collects the ring...and takes it to Master.3 and...oh, so sorry...she is given the same treatment as Donna.

This would mean that the Doctor was saving Donna's life at the expense of his own happy ending. And suddenly he's our hero again...but he may not be able to save her a second time. Nor, may he be able to sense the new Master upgrade...since like Ten 2...he would be part Human/part Time Lord.

Still all SEXY though.

Of course...this is only my theory and has nothing to do with any actual script RTD might have penned. For all we know...Donna and the Master have nothing much to do with a pony...but their involvement does increase the likelihood that the Metacrisis isn't over yet.

And, the Doctor...presented leaving Ten 2 with Rose as something Rose has to do..."because we saved the universe, but at a cost...and the cost is him"...so Rose was to help Ten 2 get better. Donna is the one who added the touch of romance. Even Ten 2 said he could spend his life with Rose..."If she wanted." Maybe all she was supposed to do was make him better...that and believe the Doctor would come back to her.

"Does it need saying?"

Of course, this completely rains on the parade of all of those people who feel Ten 2 and Rose are madly in love and living the happy.

That's why I can't write anything right now - I just have the distinct feeling that Journey's End was a deliberately misleading conclusion, all the more so for being so heavily promoted as the ending of the RTD era.

One day it would be fascinating to find out what was really going on when SM appeared to be tempting Tennant into staying - if that was ever in doubt it must have made planning all this incredibly complicated.

I love the idea of Donna sacrificing her life. I know companion death needs to be carefully handled, but I think they've deliberately downplayed the connection by not releasing too many Donna books. By Christmas it will be quite a while since we saw the two of them together - 17 months.

And poor Ten. What a horrible bind he was in if you're right - how could he possibly enjoy a future with Rose if the price was Donna? That would make so much sense of the conflicting responses that came across from the actors in the Bad Wolf Bay scene.

Meanwhile, no word on Jack - I am sure they will kill him off in the Torchwood miniseries. And I should not be speculating, but...

Well...if it helps...I am sure they will kill him off in Torchwood, too. Or...make his participation in this unlikely by removing him from Earth. The Martha rumor makes some sense as UNIT was already heavily involved with Rose and Project Indigo.

But...wouldn't it be nice to have our belief in story continuity upheld for once? It would be very nice indeed. I'm so tired of slapped together, not quite finished, good enough for the loyal fans to retcon into fanfic endings to epic series television...I can't tell you!

I want a television writer to finish his OWN work.

And RTD is the man capable of doing that...I think...I hope...I want to believe.

Or...it was because it was planned that temptation was possible. I mean...if Ten 2 was slated to return...then maybe David could stay on as Eleven for a bit...and reinvent his character. I see that a huge incentive for him to stay. Because he would get to reinvent the Doctor...add subtle shadings to the distinguish the character as I believe he does in JE. I firmly believe David was imagining Ten2 was the Doctor NOT in love with Rose...but instead...making the best of things he had no control over.

But then we won't know until it's all over, I suppose...if we even know then.

And yes, this is the one thing that would throw Ten's behavior into a more favorable light for me...if he viewed his happiness would come at the cost of his friend's life. He would also know that Rose would be haunted by that price. So, giving her a fresh start with a new him...might seem like the best choice he had. Ironically, just as it seemed best to RTD.

completely loving your trains of thought.... I'm also annoyed by all the spoilers.... what's the point of watching the episodes after you know the whole story...

Sigh.

...looking for updates about David Tennant...because I want to make sure I alert my British buddies to record his radio interviews and such for me to listen to next time I'm in town. They are, amazingly, not nearly as interested in DT as I am.

But...I am getting very gun shy about any news alerts...maybe I should just take the months of April and May off so that the spoilers die down a bit.

I think that there is this keen interest because the show is no longer running regularly...the cast and crew setting up becomes more of an event and so it's easy to track and photograph and thus...spoil.

But if I'm any judge of RTD...then all of the really good stuff will be shot in studio, behind locked doors and under controlled conditions.

I reeeeaaallly hope it's what you're thinking and not just, say, creating new flashbacks from the year that never was. Though that itself could hold its own merit, if it's the Master cruelly reminding the Doctor of what he'd lost in Rose and how he was too weak to get it back. That could be a keen motivator to get her back... again.

I reeeeeeaaally hope...

...it's what I'm thinking, too. I would be kind to everyone. I would be kind to old school fans and new school fans and Rose/Ten fans and little kids watching Doctor Who for the first time on Christimas morning. I would tie up RTD's whole series in a bright red bow and make it completely revolutionary, while setting Moffat up with the best premise ever going forward.

Here's hoping RTD will do what I would do.

...I sort of love Russell, right now! I sooooo want to believe he can come through for the storyteller in me and write a finale I would be proud to call my own. Because dang I could use some canon proof that television writers can cast caution to the wind...and go for the epic win.

... has no picture proof. This John Simm speculation is from one person who thought she saw him having a coffee at the refreshments table. The people that definitely snapped Bernard Cribbins from multiple angles on the same day all around the building... didn't snap John Simm.

The photo that's subsequently been dug out of another person's camera, predominantly with Bernard Cribbins in, is what's sparking this debate. It's not a nice debate on the spoiler forum at the moment. People are looking at the same thing and coming to different conclusions, comparable to the debate of whether Ten 2 and Rose are in love.

In my opinion, the photo of this man with Bernard Cribbins has too much hair - it's not thin enough or receding enough to be John Simm. If he's got a wig on, then I'm very confused as to the 'teenage' dress sense the Master is adopting; a far cry from the authoritative style we're used to. The guy looks like Who crew, with long, scruffy stubble (as opposed to a well groomed beard). If John Simm is just there to provide his voice and is in his own clothes for this shoot, he shouldn't have the wig.

It's just not sitting right with me at the moment. I need a better photo.

I'm being intentionally vague, knowing you are not looking for Doctor Who spoilers.

The fourth person is, of course, DT, holding a book. It could be random filming without him; a deception by the BBC to draw fans away from the truly secretive filming.

I will say I absolutely adore what CT is wearing. Like Agatha, there are details filtering through.

...in question. It could be Simm. I agree he does seem to have more hair and less chin than before...but I don't see the hair as that much of a problem. His hair is longer...and may have a bit of weave or something to extend it. It could be a disguise...or it could be to show the alternative personality of the new Master. The only one was very button down and this one is very laid back and blond.

Frankly, it would be funny if the "Whatever" attitude of Ten 2 was the typical attitude of new born Time Lords. I know...I know...this is not what RTD is writing, most likely. Still...I'm more excited by the idea that someone thought they SAW him. Surely, the person that shot the photo got a better look at him. He had to have walked to the end of the trailer at least.
