Animal Behavior Vid - Shepherding Rabbit
Feb. 7th, 2012 12:18 pmI'm very late to the party with this one. It has nearly 2 million hits on YouTube. But, I hadn't seen it so perhaps it is new to some of you, too.
Champis, the rabbit, apparently paid attention to what the dogs on his herding farm were being trained to do and picked up sheep herding, rather like Babe the Pig. Dogs could have developed this ability from some redirected pack instinct, but it is interesting to see a non-herd animal like a rabbit pick up a complex skill like shepherding and work at it so diligently.
Doesn't this make you wish you could communicate better with the animal kingdom? To find out what is in his rabbit-mind about all of this?
