Life and Death and a very sweet puppy video

This morning I heard that a former supervisor of mine died while doing a water sport that he really loved. We had a sort of like/irritate relationship. I believe he respected me and I thought he was funny and goodhearted, but we clashed and gave one another more than our share of headaches.

Someone else I know summed him up this way, "He was a nice man, a sucky supervisor, but a really nice man." I genuinely liked him as a person and happily joined a team under his supervision because of that, only to regret my choice later. The news of his death left me feeling decidedly off-balance. It was unexpected and I missed him immediately in the world, but I didn't cry at first, because...I wasn't sure I was sad enough to cry.

Then I saw this very cute vid...and I cried buckets.

Not that it is a sad vid...but...well...it reminded me of how simple and beautiful life is and how everyone starts out like this puppy. And I think we are all still this puppy inside, even if we don't always show it on the outside. And, yeah, how we need to be kind to people and take them they way they are.
