LIFE IN THE BOX or DRIVING A TOYOTA YARIS
Mar. 17th, 2010 05:58 pmI am claustrophobic. I hate being crowded. Can't even consider having an open MRI. And don't even think about covering my face with anything. So, this new fashion in car windows is really making it hard for me to drive.
I have a rental car today, because State Farm Customers keep running into my car. This is true. I have been hit three times...all by State Farm Customers. I am surprised State Farm isn't concerned about their people. But they are a very nice company and they always get me a rental car to drive. Of course, it is generally a new car. And new cars have much, MUCH smaller windows. The YARIS has little tiny slits of glass that you can barely see through. I don't know why loads of people aren't complaining about this. I suppose you must be claustrophobic to notice. Or car companies have people scouring the web to remove all complaints. Or...people are just used to substandard products in America. There is also the ANGLE of the windsheild...which is steep and gives me the distinct feeling I've been consumed by the car.
So, I do not like the Toyota Yaris. And I will never buy one. Nor do I like the Camry. I have had Toyotas for the past 20 years...but I do think that I will look for another car company next time. Not because of the safety record problems they've been having lately, but because as a petite 5 foot tall person...I should have more than 2 inches of headroom in a car. What do 6 foot tall men do? They must drive hunched over the wheel like Igor. That's ridiculous. I want to be able to sit up straight and feel comfortable in a car.
Here's to the Nissan Leaf having a bit more window and headroom...or I swear next time I will buy American. See if I don't!
