Showcasing a DW S4 Video...spoilers for the Finale

One of my readers, abstractvmilk, made a lovely little clip fest vid of an alternative end for Journey's End. She wanted to illuminate the general point I've been making about the Doctor in some of my recent posts. Since she was kind enough to credit me for inspiring the vid...I feel I should give her wider exposure.

If you haven't seen DW S4 all the way through the finale...this does contain some spoilers. And it is not a music vid...so there is dialog as well as footage.

Well...I do feel very strongly that the Doctor needs to go to Rose...because she's come to him three times now...and he's the one who has this problem with wanting to be a god. Also, he's the one that WANTS that life...he keeps saying that he wants it and feels he can "never have it." So, it is up to him to make the choice to go to her.

And I can see it being a hard choice for him...this life in the TARDIS...running away...is what he's always done. Changing that...isn't really something another person should talk him into...he should go to Rose because he really wants that life and her.

Exactly. Also, I wasn't so upset because Rose wasn't getting her Doctor. I was truly more upset because Ten was alone. Again. And that just tears me up inside. Also, it bothered me that the same thing wasn't bothering Rose. Because in Doomsday I always got the impression from the end scene "...and you're alone..." and how her voice breaks on that sentence, that THAT was what was killing her more than anything else. She didn't want him to be alone. It just left me feeling very unsettled. :( But you're absolutely right. It's his turn to chase after her. lol ;)

Well...she does say about it not being HIM...and at the beginning of that very episode...she asks if it is still HIM. I think Rose is blindsided by this...this time he isn't just sending her away to be with her mother...or to save her life...he's telling her she HAS to babysit 10.2. And then Donna pops up and says, "Don't you see what he's trying to give you?" I mean...Rose is just thinking WTH? I think.

She even says...I didn't come all that way just to get put back here...and the Doctor says, "But you have to...because we saved teh universe at a cost and the cost is him." Basically, the man she loves is asking her to take care of "HIM" and she says the appropriate thing..."He's not you." And then the Doctor says, "He needs you and that's very me."

If you add in the missing scene...there is Donna telling Rose that the Doctor now has an "equal" to travel with him forever. Which makes it all very much like a brush off of Rose. Rose is concerned for him...but also hurt and confused...and here is 10.2 saying the right words. I think she kissed 10.2 to see if he WAS the Doctor...and I think given the way she tore away from him...and her hips rocked away from him when he took her hand...that she decided he wasn't HER Doctor in the end.

David Tennant said it best...10.2 is the Doctor...and you are left feel very ambigous about Rose because she IS with the man she loves...but he is not the man she loves.

thinking he HAS to because the fans don't seem to get that Rose never asked him to stay with HER forever...HE asked HER how long she would stay with him.

One thing that really got me about the Doctor's Daughter is that he's taught Jenny to run as well. Rose needs to be there to teach them otherwise.I think Jenny would be elated to have a mum.

Ah, if only, if only. Agreed this was gorgeous, spare, and perfectly sums up what SHOULD have happened, and indeed, what could still happen.

Rewatched JE last night on Skiffy and it still leaves me so bloody unsettled. There are too many dangling threads for this to be the end of the love story of Rose and Ten. Or the friendship of Ten and Donna.

I know...what he did to Donna was so very bad. I think the love story of Ten/Rose is just not served at all...though many people are happy. I suppose I have too big an ego to think my loved ones would be happy with a copy of me. ;->

Maybe they would though...!
