Maybe, by telling him his name, River confirmed Ten/Eleven(?) would become the Valeyard very soon. We all thought that telling his name meant wedding because of silly rumours, but what if his name was a weapon against himself, against the Valyeard?
Oo, that does put his last discussion with River in a different light. "You know my name... There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name; there's only one time I could..." I thought he was pleading for River's life...is it possible he was pleading for his death? Wanting her to let him sacrifice himself because now he knows how close to becoming the Valeyard he is? (This might be a pointless observation, but it hit me pretty hard.)
The Doctor also says, "time can be rewritten". I hope that, if RTD IS bringing us to the Valeyard, he has a trick (or three) up his sleeve to redeem Ten and destroy the Valeyard. *whimpers*
