In another post...( WARNING: Voyage of the Damned spoilers in post and comments for both posts)...

I chatted on about the different types of DW kisses. And in that post, I said that the Bad Wolf kiss was similar to the Martha kiss, being a kiss for a specific purpose and therefore meaningless as a kiss. But I should have pointed out that there is one thing that differentiates Rose's Bad Wolf kiss from Martha's Judoon kiss...and that is the context of the smooch.

With Martha the context is very clear...this means nothing...I'm sorry to do this to you...please forgive my kissing you and let's move past it. The Rose kiss is given quite a different preamble...one that shows the Doctor isn't at all sorry he has to kiss her...the "that's how I feel" and the throaty growl of "Come 'ere." (Which HAS to be one of Chris E.'s sexiest moments.)

Also, I think I left out one other kind of kiss in the last discussion...a type we might get to see again in S4. The Joan and John Smith kiss is a particularly sweet one, and it has meaning, but it is an "under a spell and not his true self" kiss. I think it is possible they will play that card again, before Tennant leaves. Have him swayed by an alien potion or power so that he is compelled to give up the kisses. Thus allowing him to kiss someone else. But I still believe they are saving the real "romantic for sure" kiss for Rose Tyler.
