Yep, we must hang our Rose-arc hopes on RTD. And that's fine by me. I do think that books and fanfic will give me enough satisfaction...provided I get the proper sort of closure on the love story. And I don't consider, we've all moved on with our lives to be proper closure. Really, I have enough ties to the kid in me to know...no kid believes that. I, frankly, have seen enough adult break-ups to know that no adult really believes that either. S3 shows us what a sad thing it is to face the reality of loss. S4 may show us healing...but I honestly don't think it should make us give up hope.

In one of my little unpublished reunion fics...the Doctor tells Rose he's decided there is only one cure for a love like the one he feels for her. She says, "Time?" with sad resignation. And he shakes his head and says, "Not in my case." Then, he gives her a ring. She blinks at it. "Marriage," he announces. "The long slow march to familiarity. Guaranteed to take the romance out of anything." Rose smiles and accepts the ring. "How long before it kicks in?" "Can't be too careful. Relapses are likely. But...seventy years or so should do it." "Seventy-years. I'll go a bit wrinkly." "I'm sorry, but I think it's the only way."
