So, I've watched the "Night of the Doctor" pre-show. And first, allow me to say...Paul! PAUL! SIGH! Oh, Eight! How I wish you had more canon!

Also, allow me to say that it was all Moff...creating things that he shoves into the canon. Rewriting history to suit his own ego. He wants to make it all about him, rather than, say...knowing the canon and honoring it for the rest of us.

But, as my SO said, this is what you can expect from a commercial success. Doctor Who has become a commercial entity. So...I expect that we will see many things that will make excellent toys for Christmas in today's episode.

Will we also have a coherent story? Or even a non-offensive one? I don't know. It would be a great day if we did. Maybe the Doctor's amazing mojo can influence this one global event. Here's to it not sucking!

In other news. I joined LJ on November 23, 2002. So, this is my 11th Anniversary on LJ. Maybe I could get a nice Anniversary Present from the Eleventh Doctor.

So, I'm going to put most of this under a spoiler cut, because I'll be addressing what Moff just had to say about things, in a couple of news articles I've seen. But, I wanted to also let any of you who are still waiting for I&B know that I faithful plan to get the next chapter to my Beta this weekend. She has been on vacation and I have been suffering the usual stressors...illness and poverty. So little has happened on the writing front, however, I am now clear headed again...and shall strike while the synapsis are hot.

Well, everyone is doing it...so why not?

Obviously, there will be spoilers for S7 under this cut, and a few casting spoilers for the anniversary, too. But I know nothing concrete beyond those, so I'm not going to seriously spoil anyone who reads the papers.

Okay, you can read this. But, I might have figured out what is going on with S7. So, consider yourself warned! If you read this it might spoil you. Then, again, I've been wrong many times before...

I say spoilers, but I don't think there will be too many actually. Instead, I want to talk about my ideas about the new and improved Matt Smith Doctor...but, I will take it under a cut just to be safe...

So, I don't want to say much above the cut...explore at your own risk...do not share any more than I share with you here.

As some of you have heard before, I don't think the current Doctor is the REAL Doctor. I believe that Matt Smith's sudden change from manic unwatchable to suddenly somewhat tolerable isn't just caused by Matt and Moff waking up one day and thinking, "What have we done?" No, I think, that like Amy's childish personality in their first season, this change of personality is meaningful.

Basically, all of this dressing differently, changing the TARDIS theme, acting less like an irresponsible child is a sign that we are not dealing with the REAL Doctor. But instead we are dealing with, most likely, the FLESH Doctor. And Clara is the ideal companion, because she is the REAL Doctor's interface. Which would be brilliant as it would allow all of the "Doctor should be female" people a chance to have a pseudo-female Doctor. This will also fit in with the Anniversary as previous Doctors will be accessed as we work out the REAL Doctor's problem. And, also, it will address "Why the Doctor picks certain people to be his companions," which Moff said Clara would address.

Things to look out for now: Does the Doctor know anything he didn't know before the FLESH consumed him? How does Clara reflects past companions. Already, she was working at the Rose and Chalice in her ordinary guise. Rose being a pretty serious link to the past companions. I'm not sure about the chalice part there. And that would make the know her as a child thing not as annoying as it appears at first blush, because that would be a reference to Amy. Also, her River-like hopping in and out of time is like River. On the other hand, maybe I've just had a good idea here...and I hope Moff is going to do something similar, but I'm way off base. We will see. My fearless prediction has been made, at least.

It is out there somewhere, written by Moff, a man who can't let an idea die, even when it is begging for that final rest.

Spoilers...I suppose...

Apparently there was one in Grey's Anatomy, one in Criminal Minds and tonight there was one on Supernatural. It isn't the anniversary so what gives? Perhaps there is some actual link to what is going on at Doctor Who? That would be very cool. Those of you who have seen the finale...give that some thought.

Edit To Add: Though, now that I've seen the clips the finale link seems unlikely. Two of them are about conventions and were probably just influences from Comic Con going Who-Crazy. If that is the case, then SPN has smarter writers, but I never doubted that for a second.

First, I want to wish everyone in the path of Irene a safe haven for the storm. Afterward, I hope you all get power and water and internet access in record time.

Second, there are some Doctor Who rumors that I want to speculate about...under this cut.Read more... )

I don't know what it is about me and Doctor Who. We seem to be tapping into the same creative slipstream. What I haven't told any of you, yet, because I didn't want to raise false hopes, is that I went back to the drawing board a few weeks ago on Wild Geese AU (which was sort of Part 2). I based what I was doing on my own predictions re: S5 starting with a particular death. See this post for my fearless prediction...http://rabid1st.livejournal.com/315487.html

I expected to be wrong about my predictions. But, as usual, nearly everything I wrote about in my NEW Wild Geese chapter was referenced in this latest episode. :headdesk:

What is it about me and Doctor Who? It is there in my head, but it is not in my hands. Which means we are all destined to be bitterly disappointed by any attempt I make to write this one. And yet...and yet...I know that Moff will not go where I would go for the 50th Anniversary. Even though, where I'm going, I think, is the proper destination for what Moff will inevitably serve up this season. Because Moff can't help but meddle.

All that said, I quite liked the episodes. They were very clever and quite adaptable to my storyline needs. So, thanks again, Moff. We seem to be made for each other. I should stop giving you such a hard time, shouldn't I? But...alas...you gave us River Song and you keep telling us instead of showing us and that's annoying. :smirk: Spoilers to follow...Read more... )

It's been a long while since I've nattered on about Doctor Who, hasn't it? And I'm not going to natter now. I am also spoiler free, so you need not worry that I know River Song's Identity despite the title of this post.

I've really moved past the point where I care what happens in Doctor Who, I think. I haven't gone to any of my old Doctor Who haunts in a few months. But today I happened to pop in on Life, Doctor Who and Combom and there was a bit of Moff's interview hyping River Song and how she's the person the Doctor trusts most in the universe (now that Rose is in a different universe, I suppose) and how we are going to all be shocked, awed and overcome with dismay when we learn the truth about her.

Yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah, SQUIRREL!

We've heard it all before, Moff. What we haven't seen is much delivery on all this hot air.

So what interested me wasn't what Moff said, but that someone took a guess at River's identity in the comments...
